“Nowadays I get sent so many good scripts that I don’t have to write them any more. Rachel Grant’s Greensleeves is about a poltergeist and it’s very clever. It’s set in Brighton, where she lives, and we’re shooting it there later this year. Steve Earle, who toiled on Abracadaver!, is making his directorial debut, and Godfrey Kirby will be lighting again. We think it’s great that, when he should be thinking about retirement, Godfrey’s switching careers. [He was sound recordist on most of the other films]. Joe McCallum tells me that he’s got so much footage that there’ll be a Horror Icon II. But don’t hold your breath. And probably the best proposition I’ve had for a long time is from a wildly talented alternative comedian, who sees himself as the new Dr Phibes and thinks we’re the people to make his dream come true. I think I know the writer who can come up with the words. So if we’re lucky this will be our first movie next year. Can I go now?”
